Mique
Hi- I'm Mique (as in Mickey). I started 30days as an idea file a few years ago. After three years and hundreds of ideas, I now realize that I'll never check them all off my list. When I'm not creating, I love spending time with family and friends and long drives, especially if they end at the beach.

Our airport has a small public park attached – we had a great time watching the planes, listening to tower chatter, ate sack lunches, had cupcakes with frosting clouds and paper airplanes on top, gave a CD of flying related songs and binoculars as favors.

I love doing kids’ parties! I just had a wonderful little tea party for my daughter (http://fostering.blogspot.com/2008/07/eva-turns-three.html), and I’m currently working on a Chinese-themed party for my son’s upcoming 4th birthday – only the invites are done so far (http://www.flickr.com/photos/30383886@N00/2765282925/), but we’re planning lots of neat stuff! Also, there are some pictures there from his 3rd party last year, which had a pirate theme. It was GREAT – and the cake, oh, the cake. What a labor of love, but how worth it (http://www.flickr.com/photos/30383886@N00/2766124496/in/photostream/).

My parties are on a tight budget usually.

I don’t have good photos online to share -but our son’s 2nd birthday was a construction theme – with a truck shaped birthday cake (use chocolate covered donuts for the tires),and a new clean plastic dumptruck on the table for chips and stuff. Just use yellow knapkins and plates – don’t spend money on themed ones. You can buy orange pylons at the hardware store -those were his favorite gift.

For his 3rd birthday it was a train party – the cake was a steam engine sculpted out of cake and rice krispie treats, with cookies for the wheels. http://thequeenbeesbuzz.blogspot.com/2008/02/birth-month-days-23-24-and-25.html
Invitations were computer made – and looked like train tickets – I put one ticket in the envelope for each person invited, so a family of four got four tickets – and I varied the seat numbers on them. He wanted a blue train, so we just got blue knapkins and plates. Kids who attended got a train themed plastic cup to drink out of with stickers and a wooden train whistle inside.

I just did a party for my little girl who turned one..I guess there wasn’t a theme, the focus was her colors, which were black and pink. But you can see pics of the party here:

And I made the invitations on scrapblog.com and then turned my creation into a jpeg and then emailed that out! More creative than evite but still convenient! You can see those invites here:
