A couple of years ago one of my friends told me that I needed to find a DownEast store while I was visiting in Utah. While in college, I had gone to DownEast Outfitters but was unaware of their new(er) clothing line. I found the shop and was an immediate fan. Great basics, fun skirts and dresses, and all super affordable as well as modest. I hit the jackpot.
I recently opened up their fall catalog and fell in love. Every single item was calling my name. Seriously.
So what does this have to do with 30days? Well the people at DownEast Basics were kind enough to send me two items to write about. I ended up with the Wonderful World dress and the Curtsy Coat. Adorable. I tried to do a photoshoot with the products. But it resulted in me knowing that a)I will never be a model and b) that Josh will never be a photographer (thank you Joshie for trying to help).

Wonderful World Dress & Curtsy Coat
See told ya. I feel bad that I couldn’t show
off the cute clothes better. :(
But I have to say I love them in
person and they are super comfy.
Either one is a perfect addition
to your fall wardrobe.

Not only did DownEast Basics send me these items,
but they are letting me give away one of each to my readers!!!
Here are some better pics to look at:

The rules are simple- check out their products online.
Come back to this post. Comment here what you love.
As always for additional entries you can do the following:
all in separate comments please, otherwise it just counts as one
*Blog about it
*Announce it on Facebook
*Become a DownEast facebook fan
you have to do this- they have coupon codes
and info specific to facebook
*Tweet about it
*Become a 30days follower
(if you are one, let me know & thanks;)
*and just for the fun of it-
your favorite cookie recipe
**ETA:Although I love hearing your favorite type of cookie,
I want recipes, pretty please? The entries that
just put what their favorite

type is won’t count.***

If you announce, blog or tweet about it,

tell your friends to mention your name in their comment.
Each person that mentions your
name means one more for you!

I will pick two winners on Monday, October 12th.
(one winner will get the dress, the other the coat)

    Preheat oven to 350. In bowl combine flour, oats, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.

    One of my Fav. Cookie recipes is:

    Lime Meltaways

    Makes about 3 dozen

    * 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
    * 1 cup confectioners' sugar
    * Finely grated zest of 2 limes
    * 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
    * 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
    * 1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    * 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    * 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt

    1. Put butter and 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, and mix on medium speed until pale and fluffy. Add lime zest and juice and vanilla, and mix until fluffy.
    2. Whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt in a bowl. Add to butter mixture, and mix on low speed until just combined.
    3. Divide dough in half. Place each half on an 8-by-12-inch sheet of parchment paper. Roll in parchment to form a log 1 1/4 inches in diameter, pressing a ruler along edge of parchment at each turn to narrow log. Refrigerate logs until cold and firm, at least 1 hour.
    4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove parchment from logs; cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds. Space rounds 1 inch apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake cookies until barely golden, about 13 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool slightly, 8 to 10 minutes. While still warm, toss cookies with remaining 2/3 cup sugar in a resealable plastic bag. Cookies can be stored in airtight containers at room temperature up to 2 weeks.

    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 325 F. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and black pepper. Set aside. In a small heatproof bowl set over a small saucepan of simmering water, melt the coarsely chopped chocolate with the butter. Let cool slightly. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the melted chocolate mixture with the sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix on medium speed until combined. Reduce speed to low and gradually add the flour mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Line a 17-by-12-inch cookie sheet with parchment paper. Using a 1 1/2-inch ice-cream scoop, drop scoops of the cookie dough onto the parchment paper, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes, until they look flat and the surfaces crack (cookies should still be soft in texture). Let the cookies cool on the parchment on wire cooling racks. Store at room temperature for up to 3 days. Makes about 3 dozen.

    Best cookies ever!

    Chewy White Chocolate Chip Chocolate Cookies!
    1 3/4 cups flour
    1 1/4 cups cocoa powder
    1 cup white sugar
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    2 tsps. baking soda
    1 cup butter
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 cups white chocolate chips

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheet.

    2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Add the salt and vanilla.

    3. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa and baking soda and gradually add to the creamed mixture, it will be thick but its right. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet. (I use a cookie dropper)

    4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until fluffy but still soft (I do 9). Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 1-2 minutes (so they harden a little) move to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Hey Mique…it's been a long time. Love your blog and cute family!
    I really liked the serendipity dress, but it is sold out :( I'll have to call someone that lives by a story and see if they can find it!

    I LOVE the turning colors skirt. I'm so excited to be able to wear 'normal' clothes again. Baby us due in 8 days so it's nice to browse Downeast Basics and know I can start ordering again.

    I too fell in love with everything in their new catalog. My favorite being the Fall in Love skirt and the blue shirt they had paired with it. I already decided that it would be my reward for when I get rid of the "baby" weight after I have this baby.

    There is so much to choose from, and I am a HUGE Downeast Outfitters fan – but my favorite is probably their tanks. I wear them under everything!
