Slow Cooker French Onion Soup

Ingredients

  • 8-10 onions sliced
  • ½ c butter
  • 60 oz beef broth
  • 1 ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 10 slices French bread toasted
  • grated parmesan and/or shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Sauté onions in butter until crisp and tender.
  • Transfer to slow cooker.
  • Add broth, Worcestershire sauce and bay leaves. Cover.
  • Cook on low for 5-7 hours or until onions are tender.
  • Discard bay leaves.
  • Ladle into bowls.
  • Top each with a slice of bread and cheese.
  • For a more intense beef flavor, add one beef bouillon cube.
