Yarn Wreath Tutorial from Angel Face Designs

Hi Everyone! I’m Heather from the blog Angel Face Designs, and have a little shop of the same name!  I’m married to my high school sweetheart, who is a hunky fireman and together we have two super cute little girls – Leila (4) and Gianna (1)

I am so excited that Mique is letting me share with you a tutorial of my latest obsession hobby, yarn wreaths!

You Will Need:
Cheap-O yarn
Scissors
A Glue Gun
Foam Wreath Form (every once in a while you can get lucky and find them in the floral section at the Dollar Store)

{sorry about the weird lighting!}

Start by glue gunning a bit of your yarn down.  I like to do this on the part where the wreath connects.

Start wrapping your yarn around the wreath.

Once you’ve wrapped it around four or five times pull it tight.

Repeat, repeat, repeat!

When you get to the end, trim your yarn.

…and place a strip of hot glue on the wreath.

Gently place the yarn over the wreath, and you are done wrapping.

Now comes the fun part…..decorating!

I like to make felt flowers from this tutorial and this tutorial.  I’ve also made a few custom-order wreaths with pinwheels from this tutorial.  There are so many great tutorials on the web – google “felt flower tutorials” for a bunch more ideas.  Also, experiment with your embellishments by using pinking shears instead of regular scissors – you get a really fun effect!

Make a handful of whatever types of flowers/embellishments you’re in the mood for.

Then get gluing.  I usually take my biggest flower, glue it on and then build around it.  Any leftover flowers I usually use to make into clips, or as gift wrapping embellishment. (Craft paper + lace + felt flower = cute, cheap gift wrapping)

Hang your creation(s) and enjoy!  If you’re like me, you’ll go crazy and start making them for every room of the house!

Seriously….I could make one for every room in the house.  Here is one in my baby, Gianna’s room, and my four-year-old has already requested one for her room!
In fact, I love making these yarn wreaths so much I decided to whip one up for one of you guys!

A bright, multi-colored wreath perfect for Spring!  How can you win it?  Well, you have two chances.
First chance – go become a follower of my blog (say hi!). That will count as one entry/comment.  Second chance, become a follower of Mique’s blog, although I’m sure you already are!
Giveaway will end in one week, and the winner will be randomly picked by Mique.
Good luck and happy creating!

Hi- I'm Mique (as in Mickey). I started 30days as an idea file a few years ago. After three years and hundreds of ideas, I now realize that I'll never check them all off my list. When I'm not creating, I love spending time with family and friends and long drives, especially if they end at the beach.
