Hi- I’m Mique (as in Mickey)! Nice to meet you.

Photography by Blyss PhotographyI’ve been married to the funniest, smartest guy I know, Josh, for 23 years.  Together we have three crazy, cute kids.  Boy- 22 yrs old, girl- 20 yrs old,  and boy- 15 yrs old.  They are quirky, witty, messy, creative, fun, and love to keep me on my toes.  A lot has changed since I started 30days.  My kids were just 9, 7 and 3 when I started this site!

I am a messy type A, oldest child.  I like to be in charge but I don’t do things with perfection.  I love talking one on one to people but sometimes I get shy in large crowds.  The people who know me best would say that I’m passionate and determined (aka stubborn)- they would never describe me as shy.  I love doing things on my own terms yet in general I am a rule follower and afraid to disappoint people.

My life is full of joy, struggles and trying to find my way. I’m passionate about special needs and am an autism momma.  Warning- get me talking about autism and it’s hard for me to stop.  You can read my pour out my heart post here – When Your Best Isn’t Quite Enough.  It was the hardest post to write ever but also very therapeutic for me.

I started Thirty Handmade Days in 2008 because craft posts took over my family blog. It was originally my to do list with round up posts.  It has evolved to posting my own ideas and tutorials.  I love creating printables, cooking good food and thinking up out of the box gift ideas.  I’m also working on getting more organized, something that I have always struggled with. Never did I dream that 30days would lead to thousands of posts, being active in social media or close friendships.

Food: bean and cheese burritos from Rico’s, cheesecake and Cherry Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper (not in that order or all together for that matter).
Hobbies: Designing in Illustrator, watching baseball, eating good food
Sport: Baseball- Gooooo Dodgers!!
Activity: Going on drives to sort my thoughts out while blasting my favorite music..

Beach or mountains? Beach girl hands down but appreciating the mountains more in my old age.
Pencil or pen? Pen
Vanilla or chocolate? Vanilla with caramel.  No chocolate.
Cubed or crushed ice? Pebble ice
Listener or talker? Talker (I was nicknamed “Energizer bunny” by a boyfriend’s sister in high school because I keep going and going and going)
Flats or Heels? Flip flops
