Modern Quilting for the Home

Hi guys!
I recently {as in last week, tee-hee} hosted a blog collaboration with a wonderful group of ‘sewing/quilting’ bloggers.  You can read the full details of the collaboration here, but I’ll sum it up by saying it was a creative challenge to work with a small amount of supplies and create a project with a modern twist using a classic pattern … FOR THE HOME.
The reason I wanted to re-cap and share with 30 Handmade Days readers is to again encourage you to give sewing and/or quilting a try. {I need a cheerleader outfit that says GO SEWING!!} It doesn’t take a lot of materials to get started. It doesn’t have to be ‘your grandmother’s kinda quilting’ {even if you’re using the same kinds of patterns and techniques}. AND it doesn’t have to be a big time commitment.
Here are {6} wonderful examples of fresh, fun and fast projects you can create for YOUR  home.
They all started with this bundle::
Kona Cotton Solids Charm pack
1/2 YD Kona Cotton Solid in Iron & Oyster
{fabric donated by Robert Kaufman fabrics}
And turned it into this::
1. Grocery Bag Holder / Two More Seconds

2. Table Topper {Tutorial} / Lovely Little Handmades

3. Heating Pad Cover / Pleasant Home

4. Mug Rugs / Everyday Beautiful

5. Table Topper / Diary of a Quilter

6. Table Runner {Tutorial} / Knitty Bitties
Isn’t that so cool? I just love seeing how six different creative minds took the same set of materials and came up with six unique {even the three table toppers/runners are completely different} projects.
You can visit each blogger’s post by clicking on their blog name under the project image. Several of them include a tutorial on how they made their project while others refer to/link to the tutorial/pattern they used.
For the beginner sewer, these projects make take you a week to complete {given the realities of life interrupting} … for a seasoned sewer, any of these would make a perfect weekend project.
For more Knitty Bitties, you can find me rambling on my Blog; trying to keep connected on Facebooktweeting on Twitter, pinning on Pinterest and my latest love, Instagram! Or check out my previous 30days posts here.
Andrea of Knitty Bitties is a blessed wife and mama who gets to spend her days sewing and sipping iced tea. She also loves to bake ... which led to running, but now she loves that too! Join her over at her blog for a whole lotta happy!
