5 Step Pom Pom Infinity Scarf Tutorial

Hello 30days readers! I’m Emma and I blog over at Craftinge. I am super excited to be one of the new craft contributors here! Today I’m sharing a super cute, easy, and cheap infinity scarf tutorial.

Not only are infinity scarfs super popular and cute right now, but they also can be pretty expensive.  It cost me around $4 to make three of these, talk about a deal!

The other great thing about making your own infinity scarf is it’s so easy to customize and you can make it exactly how you want! For example, for this infinity scarf I used a more lightweight, stretchy fabric with pom pom trim, but you can also use flannel fabric without a trim (ect).

MATERIALS:

  • At least half a yard of fabric (the amount of fabric you get is determined by how many and what size of scarfs your going to make)
  • Jumbo pom pom trim (try to buy this when it’s on sale, I got a huge roll at Tuesday Morning for around $4)
  • Pins, scissors, sewing machine (just your basic sewing supplies)
  • Needle and thread (for hand sewing the opening closed)

STEPS:

  1. Cut a pice of fabric that’s 8.5 by 46″ and fold it, {for lack of better words} hot dog style, right sides (patterned sides) together and pin.
  2. Sew down the pinned side so the fabric forms a tube.
  3. Flip the tube inside out.

4. Pin the pom pom trim onto the fabric and sew it on.

Now for the tricky part:

    5.  Open the two shorter sides of the scarf a place them right sides together and sew. Pull the ends of the tube so that the fabric      turns right side out.

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to sew it shut:

  • pin the opening closed. Make a knot in your thread and pull it through one of the layers of fabric. Then bring it around the top and come through both layers
  • loop the thread over the top again and pull through
  • do this until the opening is gone. Tie off the thread.
