Hey There! I’m Summer, a Mom to 3, a Wife to my High School Sweetheart and half of the dynamic duo behind Elevate-Everyday.com. Jen and I share posts about crafts, desserts, style and everyday life. I don’t know about you, but I have a really hard time waiting till after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas. As soon as I’m finished raiding my kids Halloween candy, I’m ready to task my husband with getting the Christmas bins down. So if you are ready to get working on your Christmas crafts, you’ve come to the right place! I’m sharing a quick and easy tutorial on how to make these awesome JOY marquee letters.
First step: Run out to Hobby Lobby or your nearest craft store and grab some cardboard letters and spray paint them gold.
Next: Using a box cutter, CAREFULLY cut the front off of the letters and remove the inside supports.
Now: Spray the inside of the letters gold and use a sharpie to mark where you want to make your holes for the bulbs. Take a box cutter and make small holes in each of those marks to make the next step a little easier
Now: Take a Phillip’s head screwdriver and poke holes all the way through each of those little holes you just made. Make sure to use your hand to brace the cardboard so it doesn’t rip, but be careful you don’t jab your hand.
Last: Just push your lights through up to the end of the glass bulb leaving the plastic part of the light in the back. Plug in and enjoy!
I did a set for my daughter’s first birthday party, you can check that post out HERE.
Thanks so much for hanging out with me today, I’d love to see your finished marquee light projects. Follow and tag me on Instagram so I can see them
