Hey guys! It’s Emma from Crafting{E}! I have an addiction. A gum addiction. Is anyone else is the same boat? I seriously love gum and I am chewing it like 80% of the time.
When I was at Target a couple weeks ago I stumbled upon these GIANT packs of gum that came in really cool plastic containers. Have you guys seen them? They are pretty cool. I bought a couple because I go through gum like nothing else and also I had the justification of reusing the container.
When I was thinking about what I could turn these into a random thought popped into my head and I decided to make them into first aid kits. I am no doctor, but personally I think it is really important to have a basic first aid kit wherever you go just because you never know when you might need a bandaid or ointment.
These little first aid kits are the perfect size for putting in backpacks and purses. They easily can fit several bandaids, gauze, ointment, and other small items. Although the containers are perfectly fine by themselves I decided to paint them to add a little extra cuteness.
I simply painted a red cross since it is a first aid kit. I was going for a distresses look and I love how it turned out! This is also a great craft for kids to help out with because it is so simple.
MATERIALS:
- Gum Containers (I have seen them at Target and some Fry’s stores)
- Chalk finish paint
- Painters tape
- Bandaids, gauze, etc
DIRECTIONS:
- Begin by simply painting the whole container red. Allow it to dry.
- Using masking/painters tape, tape off a cross-shaped section in the middle of the front side of the container.
- Paint white over the whole container. You may need several coats. Allow it to dry and remove the tape.
- Fill with bandaids, gauze, etc
Thanks for having me!
