Hello everyone! It’s Emma from Crafting{E} again! I have so many fond memories of making homemade ornaments as a child. Even though they are far from perfect, it is so fun to look back at those ornaments.
I made these fun ornaments with my sisters a couple weeks ago and I hope they will look back at them when they are older. We made these adorable rustic snowman ornaments. They are made out of wooden beads painted to look like a snowman. Cute, right?
My sisters were so excited to make these, they were so easy too. The hardest part is painting the beads white. You don’t need any painting skills to make these either (trust me, I don’t).
We also added on little twigs that we found from our backyard to add a little rustic touch! I am so happy with how they turned out!
MATERIALS:
- Suede lacing (I found mine at Michael’s)
- Wooden beads, 3 per ornament (also from Michael’s )
- White, black, and orange paint
- OPTIONAL: Twigs
- Paint brushes and dotting tool
- Hot glue gun
- scissors
DIRECTIONS:
- Paint the wooden beads white and allow them to dry. You may need several coats.
- using a dotting tool and black paint, paint on the face on one of the beads and three buttons on another. Allow them to dry.
- Use a small paintbrush or dotting tool to paint on an orange triangular nose. Allow it to dry.
- Cut a 17″ piece of suede cording and fold it in half.
- Starting with the bottom bead (the completely white one) slide the beads through the folded side of the lacing.
- Tie a knot at the bottom of the lacing and cut the ends if they are too long
- Hot glue the twigs onto the side of the ornament. You can also hot glue the beads together so that they don’t turn.
And that’s it! Don’t forget to check out my blog for more craft ideas! Thanks for reading!
