One of my best friends is pregnant with her second baby so I told her I’d make her some freezer meals. Here’s what I made, including the printable recipes and grocery list.
Back when I was pregnant with my 4th baby I stocked our freezer with 40 homemade meals and it was the best thing ever. We LOVED not having to worry about dinner every night and the meals were delicious. I would seriously recommend every single recipe.
Making meals for my friend, Heather, was a little bit more challenging because she’s a vegetarian. I asked her what her family would like and she said anything I was willing to make (ha!), but seriously, “any kind of pasta/cheese dish, any kind of meat dish [her husband would be happy to eat the leftovers all week long], and mac ‘n cheese.”
I came up with six recipes that I thought they would really like and then decided to make two of each so we could eat them too. Here’s what I made:
- Two bags of Skillet Creamy Parmesan Penne
- Two bags of Crockpot Creamy Potato Soup (from my Crock’d Slow Cooker Freezer Meals eBook and shared for free below)
- Two bags of Crockpot Beef and Black Bean Chili (adapted from this Turkey Chili recipe)
- Two pans of the best-ever Mac ‘n Cheese
- Two pans of Lasagna Roll-Ups
- Two pans of Brown Sugar Meatloaf (I actually made three because my pans were small.)

Even if you’re only making the meals for yourself I would still make two of each. They don’t take much more time to prep and they’re good for at least three months in the freezer so you’ll have plenty of time to eat them. Plus you’ll save money by buying the ingredients in bulk (for example, bigger packages of ground beef, pasta, milk, cheese, etc.).
What’s so great about these freezer meals?
- I used the printable grocery list and did all of the shopping and was back to my house in under an hour. Woot!
- I spent a total of $121 on the groceries.
- It only took me 2.5 hours to make all 12 meals.
I couldn’t get my baby to take a long nap for the life of me so I actually made these 12 freezer meals over the course of two days. I kept track of all of my prep time and it added up to 2.5 hours. If you’re able to make all of the meals at once you might be able to save time because you’ll only have to clean up your kitchen once. Yippee!
We already ate all of the meals that I kept for us and they were so delicious that I’m thinking about prepping all 12 again.
