For years, I’ve shared my simple 15 minute a day cleaning schedule with my readers! Now, I’m going to share it with you. I believe that having a clutter free and organized home can really help you be a much calmer and more relaxed person. It’s true! But, I also believe that spending hours a day cleaning and decluttering is unrealistic and most of us don’t want to do that! So, I call it having a “fake immaculate” home because it can look amazing but doesn’t have to actually take you much time.
I have lots of friends who are seriously skeptical
….but I’m telling you, it’s TOTALLY possible to keep your house clean with just 15 minutes a day of cleaning! Really! I did it for years….when my kids were babies. It was not possible for me to spend an entire day cleaning. I must tell you, this doesn’t mean if your house is right now a complete pig-stye mess that you can get it cleaned up in 15 minutes. NOPE! Nice try….this is a way of MAINTAINING your home with just 15 minutes of CLEANING each day – not picking up or putting away, CLEANING! If you need to figure out more how to get it to the point of maintaining your home go and learn more.
Much of it is about abandoning perfectionism
….which is a major stumbling block for many people. If you timed yourself, you can clean a bathroom in minutes – REALLY! You do not have to sit there with a toothbrush and scrub the floors absolutely, perfectly clean! Just wipe down everything and get it sanitized! Depending on your house, you can vacuum it in 15-20 minutes. Our old house was smaller than our current one – it was about 1800 square feet, but it was also two story, meaning I had to drag a vacuum cleaner up and down stairs AND vacuum stairs! This would also make a difference if you have more or less bathrooms {my absolute most-hated room to clean}.
Now, let me tell you, there will be days you won’t even have time to get to your assigned “chore” – potty training, baby crying all day, having your period, whatever! Just skip that chore and do it the next week. It won’t hurt your house for one week to skip it, really! I’ve been heavily criticized that my cleaning schedule has vacuuming as the first chore, instead of dusting first. Here’s my thing, it really doesn’t matter. If you vacuum your house one day and dust the next, it’s not going to make much of a difference. This is just an example for you to use. Feel free to click on this and download it to print it up, or make your own 15 minute a day cleaning schedule. If your home is bigger with more bathrooms, it may take you 20-25 minutes a day. The point is just to get it done in a short amount of time each day. This is a simple and effective way to do just that! Can you do it?
