Laundry If you like to clean with natural ingredients, like me, I’ve got some great help for you today! I’ve been cleaning our laundry, naturally, for over 15 years! Our son had mild eczema and then our daughter had it much worse than he did. So, we haven’t used bleach or any other products with chemicals in it since then!
- First, I use an all non-toxic, scent free detergent as directed. Be sure to read the label of your detergent to determine if it says “non-toxic” and the list of ingredients.
- Second, instead of fabric softener, I use about 1/2-1 cup of vinegar {just a big jug from Costco is fine} and put that right into the fabric softener dispenser. You’ll never smell the vinegar – trust me, I’ve been doing it this way so long and you really can’t smell it.
- Third, I use about 1/2-1 cup of baking soda to help freshen the laundry. I sprinkle it directly on the clothes. It will wash right out and help get that “smell” out.
- Fourth, I add some wool dry balls in my dryer to help further soften the clothes. This also helps with any static build up. You truly will not miss fabric softener. If you miss the smell, a great way to add that is to put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on each of the wool dryer balls.

Your text suggests using wool dryer balls (but the graphic shows the rubber ones); where do you find the wool ones for helping with fluffing clothes as well as getting rid of static cling.

I’ve found them at natural food stores like Natural Grocers before.

I love the idea of doing laundry naturally. But I don’t have time to mix my own. And I’m not a fan of white vinegar, as it’s a high GMO product, unless otherwise stated, and dawn dish soap has chemicals I’d rather not soak my clothes (or hands) in. I have found easy and amazing natural products that do the job so well! And they save me a ton of money! Here’s a link to our laundry ball.
