Happy Holidays 30days readers!!
I hope that each of you are up to your ears in frosting, wrapping and merriment. I wanted to share a little corner of our kitchen today that is bringing a whole lot of warm delight to our winter evenings … our hot chocolate bar/station.
Now, I am NOT the first person to think of this. Just one quick search in Pinterest and you’ll have more ideas than you’ll know what to do with {you’ve been warned ::wink, wink::}.
Our station includes::
Three of my favorite mugs {one for each person in our family}. It’s easy to switch around the mugs on display as they cycle through the dishwasher.
Two hot cocoa stirring spoons. These are a {much loved} new addition from Crate and Barrel.
Sweet options … mini marsh-a-mallows {at least that is how my Little still says it}, candy canes and gourmet chocolate & coffee grinders {for a little grown up hot chocolate}.
And of course … hot chocolate. We’re fans {just a teensy-tiny-bit} of Starbucks’ line of hot chocolate. We purchase the large tin from Costco with classic hot chocolate and then buy packets of our favorite salted caramel & peppermint versions.
It’s already shaping up to be pretty fun, right?
Well I wanted to add some type of festive wording, but wasn’t sure how to display it … I settled on some wooden letters that I mod-podged with patterned paper. I simply stuck them to our tile back splash using sticky-tac. JOY is a favorite word around this house.
Lastly, I wanted to add a ‘mat’ to fit inside the tray. My ‘placemat tutorial‘ is such a quick and easy way to whip up a mat for anywhere in your home.
I simply gathered some scraps of Christmas fabric, sewed a few straight lines and within less than an hour I had a cutesy mat for our hot chocolate bar/station.
I love how such a simple little project can add a big impact.
In fact, maybe you don’t have a cute tray or container, but want to set up a little space for your favorite winter drink {hot tea or cider, anyone?} too. One of these mats would make for a perfect spot to set up your drink ware and accessories.
May your holidays warm you with love and laughter from those you hold dear. Let us not take for granted one day of this blessed season and remember to love on those around us each and every day.

Where did you get that awesome tray??? I’m looking for a similar white, modern tray for my kitchen coffee station.

Hi Lisa!
I found it at JoAnns of all places! Not sure if they still have them, it was in the summer time. I do think I saw a very similar one in aqua at Target recently. Good luck!!

Hi Hollie- thanks for the comment! :)
You’ve left comments on other posts that aren’t showing up? I would say that your comment is ending up in spam– but I got this one. So I’m not sure. Hmmmmm…..or did I misunderstand what you’re asking? Sorry about that!
