Last week it suddenly felt like summer- 100 degrees and all! I’m getting excited to wear flip flops (who am I kidding? In CA I wear flip flops year round!) and dip my toes in the sand at the beach. I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by this year!

At first I was stumped on what would go into my favorite things giveaway. But I went shopping and quickly found the things that make me happy. Some items are itty bitty and some are bigger. I had fun picking out a few of my favorite things at the Queen Bee Market too!
LEFT: One of my favorite books- The Fault In Our Stars by John Green- I fell in love with the characters in this book. It was a really quick but fun read. My favorite thing about summer is a vaction to the beach, Kure Beach, NC in particular. My family started going there over 50 years ago. Even though there have been a lot of changes, and not so many little cottages like when I was a kid, it’s still a nice place to go for a family vacation.

The joy on my kids faces when they get to play outside during summer. They love running in the sprinklers and eating popsicles outside. The cool summer nights are so much fun to spend with friends and family. I absolutely love summer.
The weather and just being able to lay a blanket outside on the grass watching clouds, reading or laughing at the kids playing!

I live in Minnesota, and we had an extremely long winter (9 inches of snow just a couple of weeks ago!), so I am definitely looking forward to some nice, HOT weather and some days at the beach with my 4 kiddos!!

Going on day trips with my family!
My favorite thing about summer is that there is no snow between where I live (south of Albuquerque) and where my son lives (west of Laramie WY) so we can travel up to Wyoming to see the three granddaughters! We’ll be going up in early June to take them to Yellowstone National Park for the two older girls (who will be almost 3 and 5) to see the buffalo. The baby will be almost 9 months old
Then , the end of July, my daughter, who lives in San Francisco) will be renting a house near Denver so that her brother, sister in law and the three little girls can drive down and we can drive up and celebrate the summer birthdays (Five birthdays!) and take the little girls to Santa’s Village in Colorado Springs.
I’ll have time with my children and grandchildren. How much more fantastic can summer be – other than winning some prizes to share? A great book for me to read as I recover from playing with little girls, a movie to watch with my daughter and daughter in law while the guys do guy stuff and little girls are napping. Then the girls can wake up to have some frozen treats – which would be great for a teething baby!

I love the summer time, especially June. If my husband and I are here together at that time (he’s had 6 heart attacks already and is only 57) it means we made it another year on our marriage. This June 20 will be 32 years for us (and this is the first marriage for both of us). We have 2 daughters and 3 beautiful granddaughters and 2 4-legged babies.
I enjoy sleeping in and letting my boys sleep as late as they want. We make almost no plans and see where the day takes us. This summer we are also celebrating the 1 year anniversary of my mom’s kidney transplant. My cousin gave her the best gift of all last summer.
