Maybe you’re already in the thick of it, but for us, we just started summer break this week and our weather has yet to really make us think it’s summer {not that I’m complaining … those 100 degree days can take their sweet time getting here}.
I’m calling this the ‘summer of freedom’ and I’m really hoping to fully embrace this time home with my Little and not get weighed down with all the “think-I-have-to’s” of day to day life. I’m also hopeful that I can work on a few of the projects on my ‘want-to sew’ list … or my ‘fun sewing’ list. Sew {hahaha}, I thought it would be fun to share a few products/ projects that are inspiring me to get my sew on this summer:
Zakka Style by Rashida Colman-Hale
I got this book for my birthday. Just flipping through it has me inspired to grab some linen and colorful fabric and get sewing! It’s the author’s second book and is filled with lovely projects from several creative bloggers. While I love Rashida’s style, it’s fun to get to ‘meet’ and be inspired by other women as well. I’m debating between starting with the zig-zag tote or trying the stem messenger bag.
Spools {quilt pattern by Thimble Blossoms} / Vintage Modern {by bonnie & camille for Moda}
I don’t think there has been a line of fabric by bonnie & camille that I haven’t bought. It’s a lovely mix of vintage/traditional mixed with contemporary/modern patterns and colors. I think it’s wishful thinking that I’ll get a quilt made this summer, but you never know … if it happens, it will be this pattern.
Simplicity 1804 {View A}
I want so badly to jump on the “maxi-dress” bandwagon. The only problem is I have yet to find one that I like the cut, the pattern AND isn’t too long. I mean I know, it’s supposed to be long, but at 5’7″ I shouldn’t have a train to deal with. I’m hoping to make this one in the next few weeks and share my results on my blog.
Wee Mouse Tin House
Maybe you’ve seen this on Pinterest? It’s a pattern by the crazy talented Larissa Holland of mmmcrafts. This is her latest ‘kid oriented’ pattern and I have been dying to make it for my Little. Now that summer is here, I’m thinking this would make an excellent craft day project we can work on together. If you’re looking for a source for felt {for this project or any of her others} I’d highly recommend Benzie Bazaar for an affordable quality felt.
This is just a drop in the bucket … my ‘want-to sew’ list grows daily. You can grab more inspiration on my Pinterest Sewing & Quilting boards.

love these ideas, Andrea! I have tons of altoids tins that I’ve been hanging on to, so I might need to get that mouse pattern. :)
