Continuing with my easy Christmas gifts- today I have a fun idea to share. It’s a Root Deer Float Kit! Perfect for Christmas, make this gift to give to neighbors, friends, teachers, etc.
I mean seriously- how cute is this? Such a simple idea but kids go nuts for this kind of stuff. I was having a bad week and made one up for breakfast the other day. Because why not? Being an adult is hard. But the perk is that I can make root deer floats for breakfast while my kids are at school if I wanna. On Instagram, my friend Katherine posted about reindeer day with her kids and mentioned root deer floats. I loved the ideas so much and thought it’d be fun to turn it into a kit.
To make your own root deer floats you will need- vanilla ice cream, root beer, candy canes and maraschino cherries. Simply add a few vanilla scoops of ice cream, fill with root beer, add candy canes for antlers on the sides and then a cherry put on the glass for a Rudolph nose.
Get a basket, add these ingredients and attach a cute tag for the perfect “out of the box” gift idea. What neighbor wouldn’t think this gift is fun and thoughtful? Oh and creative too. This needs to be given to someone who could put the ice cream in the freezer immediately so take that into consideration. Or better yet give this gift in a cooler as the gift. That would be such an awesome gift to receive.

Because I am designing all the time, I often get asked what type of printer I use. The answer is- I’ve used A LOT of different kinds of printers. You name it, I’ve probably tried it over the years.
I’m sorry for the horrible picture of this printer. It is set up in an area with zero light and this is the best I could do to get an accurate picture while I was printing.
I was recently sent an Epson Expression Photo XP-950 Small-in-One® Printer to test out. A big box showed up at my door and it was like Christmas morning for me. Come to mama! When I opened the box I was initially nervous because it was large and there were a few things to put together. I am soooo happy to report that it was relatively painless to set up. There was a quick guide that walked me through everything and I was able to set it up lickety split.
Here are some things I love about it:
- Wide format- prints up to 11″x17″
- Professional photo quality
- Prints DVDs and CDs
- Several trays to print from
- Plugs into and is easy to set up
- Love the display and easy to navigate touch screen
- Can print from anywhere. More info on Epson Connect.
They also just announced that you can print from the new Kindle Fire via Epson Connect. The newest Kindle Fire tablets are the first ever Amazon devices to offer built-in wireless printing. So if you are reading this from a Kindle Fire, you could print out recipes, tutorial instructions, printables, etc straight from there. No need to go to your computer. You can also do the same thing from your phone, iPad, etc. How cool is that?
I am so excited to play more with the Small-in-One®. I know there are tons of things that I can create. Hopefully it’ll be able to better handle odd shaped things like lunch bags and smaller envelopes. I will test it out and tell you the results.
The absolute best thing about this post? I get to play Santa and GIVE ONE AWAY!! Yessssss!
I wish I could be Oprah and say – You’re all getting an Epson printer!! But sadly I am not Oprah. So one printer for one lucky reader will have to do. Follow the instructions on the widget below:

Epson sent me a printer to review and will send another printer to one lucky winner. All opinions are 1 million % my own. I’m thrilled that I get to share companies that I believe in.
