At the end of the last few years I’ve made a couple of New Year’s Eve resolutions printables.  Each year I get requests for it earlier and earlier to be updated.  I know we haven’t gotten through Christmas yet but those that are ready to reflect on the year, this is for you!  If you aren’t ready for this yet, bookmark it and tuck it away for a couple of weeks.  I will have an adult version and other New Year’s Eve and New Year’s posts coming up soon!

New Year's Resolutions and Year in Review for Kids - fill in the blanks and keep fort the future www.thirtyhandmadedays.com

This is a fun activity to do over winter break, for teachers to do with students at school (before the break or after coming back from break), with grandkids and more.  If they are too young to write it down, you can interview them and ask them the questions to fill in their answers.

It’s always a mystery of what my kids will write down.  Some things are so random and others very sweet.  I love that I have several years of what they were excited about, accomplished, hoped to accomplish, etc.  There’s just something about writing it all down that makes the goals, hopes, dreams and memories attainable.

I would have to agree with Jules on most of these – she worked hard on her first quarter in junior high.  Organizing her notebook and getting straight A’s have been a big accomplishment.  I’m super proud of her.

Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing such a great idea. Not only am I planning to use it with my class to help us create our first piece of display work for 2015, but I also used it to help me write y own end of year review. This is so well set out and makes sure you focus on the important things.
Thanks again for such a well crafted idea.

Thanks so much for sharing these! They are a tradition for our family now. Happy New Year!

Thanks! These have become a family tradition since I saw them on eighteen25 a few years back!

I just want to thank you for making a new printable for this year. We started using these last year and I pulled them out to read them today and they are so fun to see. So I’m excited to use them every year now. I just had to share, my 4 year old said last year the hardest thing last year was learning to drink his apple juice. I don’t know what that means, but it was so funny to read. So I’m grateful to you for making this so we can laugh at the silly things our kids say. :)

I have to say THANK YOU for posting these each year. We fill them in with friends and look back at our year. We have some good laughs!

I have been doing a much more concise version – best and worst of the preceding year; hope for the next year – of this since the early 1990’s. I keep it in my Christmas album, which is a collection of two-page spreads , one for each Christmas. But I like yours much better! My oldest grandkids are 8 and 9 and we are going to start using your printable to help them think through their thoughts and feelings, and document their highlights and likes. Thank you for so generously giving us a method to do this.

This is fantastic! Unfortunately, I can only find the printable version of the 2014 page linked above, not the 2015. Can you direct me where to find the 2015?
    Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Thank you so much! We have been using them for the past 3 years, my kids and nieces request it now every year. It’s such a great exercise, and they love to read back over the prior years’ worksheets.

I think this is neat how children are learning the importance of writing goals early some adults haven’t even master this art yet.

I love this! Sometimes the year goes by so quickly, we forget all the wonderful things that happened along the way. What a fun way to share and track memories.

  13. Laura says

Thank you for keeping us on top of these traditions. I cherish these memories and would be so sad if I didn’t do them, but can’t ever remember to do them myself! ;)
    Happy Holidays!

My husband and I absolutely love this idea and look forward to starting a yearly tradition with it this year with our children. They change and grow so quickly this will be a good remembrance from year to year.

    Thank You for this!
A coupe of years ago we started a sort of time capsule…… a Pringles can covered in paper by my then 7yr old! Every year we’ve used your sheet after lunch on New Years day and written about the previous year.
Now we have a few sheets in there it’s quite fun to look back over the kids thoughts!
