With a few ingredients, you can not only make an easy Wassail recipe, but your whole house will smell amazing!
Wassail
When I smell wassail, I know it’s time for Christmas! Because I don’t love chocolate (ya, I know!), hot apple cider and drinks like this are my go to when it’s cold. Nothing warms me up quite like a tasty, warm drink does. And with this version, you don’t need a whole lot for it to come together. You pretty much just dump stuff into a pot and let it simmer. Ta- da!
What is wassail?
Simply put, wassail is hot, mulled cider. It’s a traditional drink served around Christmas time and associated with Christmas Eve. There is also something called “wassailing” that started in England. People came together to sing and drink. The idea was that they would sing to the trees and make sure there was a good harvest the following year. That might be way more than you ever wanted to know about it, but the more you know…
When you first pour in all your ingredients, it will look pretty grainy, like so:
But fear not! When you heat it up, the graininess goes away. It becomes smooth and delicious.
