Hello 30 Days readers! My name is Jes and I blog over at Mommy Envy. I hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am! And soon you will be enjoying this yummy summer drink recipe with me!
Have you seen the fun soda shops popping up lately? When we take trips to visit siblings in college we have a couple soda shops we like to visit too. Every time I go I keep thinking I should try and recreate my favorites or better yet come up with my own!
I love using flavored syrups to create flavored drinks but you can even use fruit juices like I did with this recipe.
One of our favorite soda shops has a pineapple upside down drink that has all of these flavors mixed into a creamy drink but I wanted to create a drink that is more like a float. Actually, switching the whipped cream for vanilla ice cream would be a great idea!
Here’s what you will need:
- Crushed pineapple
- Maraschino cherries
- Dr. Pepper
- Homemade whipped cream (or vanilla ice cream)
There are a couple ways you can get the cherry flavor in this recipe. I used the juice from the maraschino cherries. You could make this recipe even easier by using cherry Dr. Pepper! Or a cherry flavored drink syrup would do the trick.
First you will want to blend the crushed pineapple in a blender. You want it blended enough to get through a straw. Put a couple spoonfuls of pineapple in the bottom of the glass. Next pour in the Dr. Pepper. If you are using the cherry juice for flavor add the juice next. Top with the homemade whipped cream and a cherry.
When you first pour the Dr. Pepper in the glass it will sit on top of the pineapple for a great upside down look. Hope you enjoy!
