How to cook a pot roast
We didn’t have pot roast very often when I was growing up but I always loved it. My mom made a traditional recipe with onions, carrots, and potatoes. For this recipe it has more of a Mexican feel with salsa. However there are several variations of how to cook a pot roast:
- Cook a pot roast in the oven
- Use an Instant Pot – like with this Italian Beef
- Throw everything in a slow cooker
How long to cook roast in a crock pot
As with most slow cooker recipes, for pot roast you have two options – high or low. The difference between high and low is the length of time it takes to get to the simmer point and cook what is in the slow cooker. Basic rule: 3-4 hours for high and 6-8 hours for low. Either way your roast will come out fantastic and make your home smell amazing!
